5 Midsize Friendly Fashion Brands for Sizes 10-14

The Top 5 Midsize Fashion Brands from a 20-Something

If you are a midsize woman that wears a size 10/12 like yours truly, you know it can be difficult to find retailers to fit your curves. I know I get apprehensive when trying new brands so I am giving you my tried and true companies that always fit me well. These are the stores I shop the most without having to return many products. If you’re curvier like me, I invite you to give these stores a try! They are still going strong in 2024 and offer trendy, wearable pieces that fit well and make you feel confident. To see my recommendations, keep on reading!

Nordstrom for Higher End Midsize Fashion

One of the best midsize stores out there is always going to be Nordstrom! Prior to becoming a full time influencer, I was a saleswoman at Nordstrom for about 5 years. I used to shop there for years and actually working at the store gave me such an appreciation for their commitment to inclusive sizing and variety of fashion options. While department stores in the 2020s are certainly not what they were once like, Nordstrom is a place where I know I can find good quality pieces that actually fit my body.

The key to the best fitting pieces for my midsize girls is shopping Nordstrom in house brands. Some of the best one’s are Open Edit, BP, and Treasure and Bond. All three are made with extended sizes in mind and actually fit curvy bodies. They also are a bit different from the other garments sold in store and add a variety to your wardrobe that you don’t get elsewhere!

Abercrombie for Midsize Friendly Everyday Basics

Probably the best store for midsize women is my favorite Abercrombie. I’ve been shopping there since 2020 and have been collecting everything from jeans to tees to dresses from the brand. The quality is incredible and the versatility of their garments is just too good. Plus Abercrombie has a wonderful curve line that works well for bodies with small middles and wider hips. If you have not visited an Abercrombie recently this is your sign to place an order.

Pro tip, if you need activewear this is a great store! I love their YPB collection filled with lounge pieces and workout outfits that easily mix and match with each other. My all time favorite is their sweat pant joggers, they are super versatile and something you can easily sleep in or wear to run errands.

Old Navy for Budget Friendly Midsize Workwear

I wish I started shopping at Old Navy sooner! I recently started collecting their denim as a midsize woman and boy do they fit great! Coming in petite and tall lengths as well as regular, their pants are a total dream. They also have super cute knits for the office and fun accessories to punch up any outfit. I notice myself wearing their basics a lot for meetings and my teacher friends swear by their tops. Plus with their frequent sales it’s such a great affordable store which is something I always appreciate!

Target for Eclectic Midsize Staples

When you think of Target your first thought may not be eclectic necessarily but the A New Day brand always has fun work and life pieces to punch up any wardrobe. I am always collecting fun handbags, dresses and skirts from them to enhance my otherwise simplistic wardrobe. The best part about Target though is their sizing. I find it to be rather forgiving to a curvier body, something that I value a lot as a midsize woman.

I also enjoy Target for their swimsuits. They have a wide variety of cuts and colors available with a good chunk of the swimsuits coming in bra sizes on top. This is great for a whole host of women and helps me to not feel quite as self conscious which is something I struggle with when wearing a lot of other swim brands.

Lululemon for Midsize Activewear

Lululemon is going to tell us midsize women not to shop in their store but I am noticing the brand becoming more size inclusive overall. I love the quality of their garments and I find their sizes to be quite forgiving. I always have to size down which makes me feel good and the actual feel of their fabrics is what brings me back time and again. I know as a midsize woman myself I tend to gravitate toward stretchy, comfortable clothing and Lululemon is the main workout brand I go back to time and again.

When shopping Lululemon, be sure to try their Align line. I have several pairs of leggings from this fabric plus a few workout tanks. These are great for travel, the gym or running errands. They can all be easily mixed with different sportier outfits and can be dressed up with the right accessories. Sometimes all a good outfit needs is a hint of creativity!

Happy Midsize Shopping

I hope this blog post inspires you to try a store you maybe have not shopped before! These are also some classic big box store options so they should be accessible both in person and online. While there may be some trial and error to trying these garments on, I promise these are some classic brands that will make your wardrobe look and feel wearable each day.
