5 Designer Handbags You’ll Love in 2024
Recently I have been getting a bunch of questions for links to my handbags! I typically get questions about clothing items but the bags have been all the rage as of late! As we head into 2024, now is the perfect time to freshen up your handbag collection and invest Christmas money into a great bag. If you’re midsize like me, there is one thing you can always rely on which is a purse. It doesn’t matter your size when you wear one, all that truly matters is your personal style and confidence!
Now, growing up I had a purse grandma. She loved her handbags and still has a rather large collection. As I age, I hope to be the same way and amass a fabulous collection myself. Heck one of the purses I will be showing is around 15 years old. If you invest in a high quality purse, it will be something that lasts through trends and go with a whole host of outfits. When it comes to the purses I am sharing, the prices range anywhere from the $100 range up to $1500. Depending on your budget, you can really get a great bang for your buck or splurge and treat yourself to some luxury! For my top 5 handbag choices, keep on reading.
Coach wristlet
Starting off strong we have my oldest bag, the Coach logo wristlet. Purchased in either the late 2000s or early 2010s, one thing is for sure I got this cutie in middle school at the Coach outlet. This was one of my first designer bags and I will always cherish it. See, a classic bag like this in a neutral color will always be in style. The size of this one is perfect too for everyday adventures or for a nice date night. When it comes to brands like Coach, you know you are getting a great bang for your buck. The quality is fabulous and the brand never truly goes out of style. Of course if you want to be more modern, I recommend going for the Tabby style. This is a fun trendy option that I rather fancy myself. However the canvas style like this bag is going to stand the test of time and elevate even the most basic of outfits.
Pro tip: to maintain the longevity of a bag like this, be sure to take great care of it! Store it nicely on a shelf and do not overpack it as it will lose its shape. If the leather starts to crack or wear, also consider investing in a leather coating to keep this bag safe season after season.
Portland Leather Tote
Our next bag isn’t quite designer but it’s still a nice quality bag! Created by Portland Leather Goods based out of the namesake city in Oregon, this tote bag is a working woman’s staple. I have had mine for a few years and it still goes with me to all of my business meetings. It’s a great size for my laptop, a notebook/planner, and my everyday essentials like my wallet and keys. I will say though this bag does have a few downsides…
First, I don’t like how this bag does not zip on top. It’s an open style which is fine for working in coffee shops but if you live somewhere with public transportation this may not be the bag for you. Instead try to find a style that zips to close and consider things like bag organizers to keep your belongings safe.
Second, I don’t love how the leather coloring can transfer to your garments. I am always careful to choose darker outerwear when wearing this bag especially in unpredictable weather. When I studied abroad in Europe, I wore a black leather bag from Kate Spade that stained and ruined several white shirts! I did not know this leather rule at the time and to this day I still refuse to purchase from Spade. I hate when my accessories interfere with my garments.
Other than the two complaints above, this is a lovely bag and one that will really stand the test of time. Plus Portland Leather does a lot of sales so you can always get a good price for the quality! What a win-win.
Hobo the Original
Our next bag is a mid-priced leather good that received a great reception from my Instagram community. This sling style is perfect for women on the go whether you are a traveler or a mom. I like how this bag has a few compartments and is easy to carry around. Anytime I can be hands free I’m a happy camper. I will say with the pebbled leather you may run the risk of color transfer like with the tote bag however I have not had any issues with this purse myself.
For my gold jewelry girlies you are also in luck with this bag, it has gorgeous gold hardware and comes in 3 colors. I actually was gifted this bag from Hobo in a partnership earlier this year. The brand was so sweet to work with and made creating super simple. If you want to dress it up, throw on a cute dress and sneakers for a night out. If you’re more casual, try this bag with an activewear set and a short boot. Fun bags like this one will always make an outfit exciting and with the superb quality of the bag itself this is a fun item you will have in your closet for years.
Luxury Heirs Bag
I received this bag a few months ago and it’s my latest obsession! Created for concerts and sporting events where you need a clear bag for entry, these handbags are created with vintage Louis Vuitton combined with a clear material. I think it’s perfect for everyday use and I wear mine all the time! With it’s gold hardware, it goes with a bunch of my outfits and it forces me to pack lightly for my various adventures. Plus as someone who goes to a lot of musicals and sporting events, this has been great addition to my accessory wardrobe. I think a cool accessory like a statement bag is a must for women, it makes even the most simplistic of outfits exciting and purses tend to outlast any other accessory or garment!
Gucci Marmont
My final handbag is my beloved Gucci Marmont. In college I studied abroad in Florence Italy and developed a deep love of Italian leather. While I was living in Europe, I picked up my first ever designer purchase which was a Gucci belt. Fast forward a few years I got my Gucci handbag seen above at the store in Las Vegas. I figure if I’m going to spend a ton of a product I may as well get it on a trip for sentimental reasons. This bag represents hitting 10k on Instagram years ago and getting my first big girl job because I got hired on at Chick-fil-A at that time. Now I have my dream job as an entrepreneur and wear this bag proudly to work events or on first dates.
Pro Tip: ladies if you are single and have a special bag like this, wear it on first dates! It shows the man that you have expensive taste and if you are looking for a certain tax bracket you ultimately have to dress the part. Of course I don’t recommend going into debt and live beyond your means but if you do choose to save for something like this as I have, there is nothing wrong with that!
