The COVID Diaries ∣ My Experience With Coronavirus

My Experience with Covid 19

Well, after a bit over 2 years, I finally caught coronavirus. I believe I picked it up from a country music concert since we were unmasked, I was fighting off a cold, and it was raining the entire time. Since getting Covid, I have spent my days watching tv and trying to get work done.

In this post, I want to share my experience, my symptoms, and some products that have helped me feel better these last few days. If you have had covid, I’m sure you can empathize and if you just found out you were positive, I hope this post helps you in some way!

My Covid Experience

Now, I found out I caught Coronavirus the day of my friends engagement. That morning I was getting ready to go to a graduation and while I took my shower, I had my Covid test going. Truth be told I had some anxiety during that shower because I was feeling a little under the weather that morning. Low and behold of course I tested positive and at first I just felt defeat.

Once I started to accept that I was in fact sick, I did have a bit of a cry because I was not only missing the graduation, I was also missing my closest friends get engaged to one another. I had been planning the day for months and months and overall it was 3 years in the making. Then, on top of missing everything, I also missed her birthday party/engagement party the following day. It was quite the loss to be honest.

After the lonely weekend came and went, I started to feel a little bit better emotionally during the week. At this point, I made myself work on my laptop and took pictures at home when I could. Truth be told its been a bit of a challenge creating content as a lifestyle creator when sick, I feel like I’ve become uninspired and my work is suffering. Plus the weather where I live has been horrible so its not helping with morale!!

My Covid Symptoms

As to my actual symptoms, I feel as though I lucked out. My first symptom was a sore throat three days after my event. It was not the most pleasant sensation let me tell ya! After my throat started to heal the following day, I thought perhaps I was just getting over my last cold. Then, I felt more congestion and a small cough on days 5 and 6. Finally on day 7 I tested positive and that morning I woke up with a stuffed left ear plus the congestion and cough. On day 2 of being positive, I experienced a deep cough that almost tasted like blood. Fortunately nothing came out but phlegm but still…

On days three and four, I had the same symptoms and on day 5 things were finally starting to subside. At that point I mainly had a dry nose and throat from blowing my nose and coughing but it wasn’t anything unmanageable. From there, it’s a waiting game to be back to normal. I am not the most patient person so it’s been tough for me but I know I will manage!

Covid Game Changers

Shop my Look

Now you may be wondering, Lauren, what has helped?? Let me tell ya, a few goodies have made this situation more bearable. First, I enjoyed sick teas or medicine balls from Starbucks. The key is to ask for an extra pump of honey so they are super sweet, it’s the best! Next, I really am enjoying chloraseptic drops. They are a stronger, more medicated cough drops and they really sooth the throat. Another product I’ve been enjoying is emergen-c packs. The orange are my personal favorite but there are flavors for everyone. Finally I have been inhaling the miso ramen from Trader Joes. It’s so addicting and the broth is just what a sick throat needs.

Get Well Soon

If you are also sick, I hope you get well soon! If you are just nosy, I hope this provides more insight into my experience with coronavirus and my overall health journey this June. It’s been really crummy to be honest but I’m so grateful to work from home and for myself during this time. Each day I spend working on collaborations, graphics, and planning out my content for when I’m back to my old self. To my loyal community, thank you so much for being here with me during this time. Its been less than ideal but your sweet messages have really helped me!

Until next time,

Lauren
