One of my all time favorite holidays is Halloween! I am the type of girl that will take any excuse to dress up and a holiday dedicated to fun outfits is a holiday for me. This year I have 2 Halloween parties. One with my women’s event group Gals Need Pals and another with my friends from college. I will be sharing both looks today plus my favorite costume from 2022! Elevated Black Swan Costume
Our first costume for Halloween 2023 has been floating in my mind for months! It all started actually with this cute mesh bodysuit, I got it months ago from NanaMac boutique as a costume idea for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour. I loved the bedazzling all over and the black color was too perfect. Since eras is obviously over and I haven’t quite worn the bodysuit yet, I thought it would be perfect for my Gals Need Pals event! We are having the ultimate girls night out Halloween party so I’m styling the bodysuit with a black tulle tutu. Since the skirt is pretty short, I will be styling this look with some black booty shorts for my own comfort level, black tights and a ballet flat! If you are a trendy gal like me, you may already have some of these items in your closet so shopping should be a breeze!
Pro Tip: style this outfit with a high bun and dramatic black makeup! The higher the contrast the better and this is a great costume for someone who enjoys the more over the top aspects of life. Remember to have fun and if you are curvy like yours truly consider adaptations to the costume like the shorts!
Girly Luigi from Super Mario
I recently saw this costume on Pinterest and I knew I had to recreate it! Originally I planned to do this costume with overalls but I’m kind of obsessed with the skirt and tube top vibe. The key here is to find a simple skort that will easily translate into spring/summer attire. In 2023 we do not need to waste a ton of money on a costume we will wear once! Now to bring this outfit to life, I recommend wearing combat boots and get one of the hats from Amazon! I thought it was such a fun detail and so easy to throw on for a party.
Pro Tip: wear this costume with a friend! This could be part of a bigger group costume especially if you’re in college. My bff Megan is going as Mario (get it, Lauren Luigi and Megan Mario?) and we will be the cutest duo. We actually saw the Mario movie back in March so this feels very full circle for us. Remember some of the best costumes are trendy costumes based on pop culture moments!
Girly Fairy Costume
My final costume idea is a personal favorite, it’s this fun fairy costume idea! I’ve had the dress for some time now and I easily elevated it with wings and a wand from Amazon. This was by far my cheapest costume since I owned most pieces and it’s a fun way to lean into the popular Barbie trend of 2023. Just recreate the look with a voluminous mini dress and the wings and wand come in a set. You just need to wave like Barbie and you are good to go!
Pro Tip: if you have a blue dress, you can easily adapt this to being a tooth fairy! Just add a tooth cutout to the wand and if you want to make it a couples costume have your partner go as a Doctor. Thats the best part of Halloween, you can really do anything with the costumes and let your creativity run wild!
