4 Things to See in Lake Chelan Washington

Must- See Tourist Activities in Lake Chelan

One of my favorite areas in Washington State is Lake Chelan! Located in central Washington state between Seattle and Spokane, this lake community is the perfect water getaway. I go at least once a year because I have a friend with a lake house there. It’s the perfect place to unwind at and it’s a safe community. I did not worry about my safety at all and it was fairly quiet in mid June during my last trip. This time around we took things easy and had a great time relaxing. Of course we saw some cute sights too so keep reading to get my recommendations!

Go Shopping in Downtown Lake Chelan

Shopping in downtown Chelan

While Chelan is known for its lake and wineries, they also have a cute and quaint downtown area. Lined with the cutest boutiques, restaurants and shops, it’s a can’t-miss! They also have a lovely historical museum I toured years ago that is definitely worth a stop. This time around, we popped into a few coastal shops and grabbed birthday gifts for a friend! These are great places to get sweatshirts if you forget to pack layers like I did. I’ve also found nice home items over the years at these stores.

Pro Tip: Come shopping downtown with a bit of spending money. I will say the boutiques are on the pricier side but they are filled with unique pieces you may not find elsewhere. If you are on a limited budget, it may be wise to just window shop. The stores are certainly cute enough to just look at!

Eat Brunch at Deep Water Inn

Biscuits and Gravy at Deep Water Inn

Fun fact about me, I will always be a food traveler! While we had a private residence to stay at, this inn was super cute and quaint. Although their weekend bookings are going quick, their weekday openings are available and I totally would give it a try! Now, if you are able to go on a weekend, I would take that opportunity because they had the best brunch boxes. Available a few days a week, you can get incredible hash browns, perfect biscuits and gravy and delicious coffees. I got the vanilla cold brew and it was one of the best coffees I’ve had in awhile. This is a great option as well for someone on the go since everything is already boxed up. There aren’t a lot of convenient places in this area so this is a godsend!

Go Wine Tasting at Succession Winery

My personal favorite part of Chelan is all of the wine tasting! This area has an abundance of wineries and vineyards. Over the years I’ve tested a few locations in Manson in particular. Other great spots include Alta Wine and Hard Row to Hoe but today we are talking Alta’s sister winery Succession. I was incredibly pleased with their rosé selection and how crisp the drink was straight from the bottle. I also tried a new varietal to me which was a Chenin Blanc. This white wine was a little more tart than the rosé but again it made for easy drinking.

Along with the wine we also had a great charcuterie spread. You get to pick the cheeses and meats which I thought was fun! This also meant you assembled your board which I hadn’t do before at a winery. My friend Madi and I had a great time making everything look cute before digging in. Plus if you stay at the winery for awhile you will need a bite to balance out the drinking!

Quick Breakfast at the Lake Chelan Artistry Bakery

My final recommendation is visiting the Lake Chelan Artistry Bakery! This mom and pop shop is the cutest place ever and their breakfast burritos are to die for. I’m not kidding when I say I think about them often when I’m not in town. Crafted with homemade tortillas, this place is top tier. They also have delicious pastries for the car ride and fresh coffees to go. Whether you stay in and eat or enjoy a breakfast on the go, this is one place I’ll never skip out on.

Pro Tip: when you go, try the bacon burrito! They have big chunks of bacon nestled between scrambled eggs and hash browns. It’s seriously so tasty and pairs well with an iced coffee if you’re like me!

Safe Chelan Travels

I hope this blog post inspires your next trip to Lake Chelan! After at least one trip a year the last few years, this has definitely become a happy place for me. Plus I just adore this part of the state and definitely see why people are snatching up houses out there. From the extensive winery options to the calm waters of the lake, you really just can’t beat it. I also love the variety of things to do out there, I never find myself bored in that town!
