3 Photo-Worthy Spots to Visit in Spokane WA

Instagram-Worthy Spots in Spokane WA

Have you ever visited Spokane, WA? This city is my absolute favorite and has changed my life for the better in so many ways. I first visited Spokane in 2015 when searching for a college and ended up accepting to Gonzaga University the following year. After 4 years at school, I left prematurely due to the pandemic but always wished to go back to the city post grad. As fate would have it, I got to move back last October and have lived here ever since!

During this past year here in Spokane, I have been lucky enough to explore much of the city and learn about new locations that I had no clue existed during my collegiate years. Now I am sharing some of these hidden gems that make for the prettiest backgrounds in Spokane. Whether you are visiting and are just looking for some inspiration or you’re a local who wants to up their Instagram game, I hope this post gets you out on the town and experiencing all the city has to offer!

Manito Park Gardens

One of the best places to do photoshoots in Spokane in my opinion is Manito park. This giant park is filled with a plethora of gardens from a beautiful Japanese garden to the rose gardens and the remains of the original man made lake. My personal favorite is the one above, it reminds me of a garden in Florence that I enjoyed. I also like their bridges and pond, it’s truly a must-see spot in the area that doubles as the perfect photo area. I’ve done many a photoshoot here over the years and each time the images turn out beautifully. If you’re in the area to visit, I recommend stopping for a picnic here. The ambiance is beautiful and it’s a rather comfortable space to spend time with friends and family.

Pro Tip: expect to spend awhile taking photos here and if you want to get crazy, bring a few outfits! Each section of the park has a different vibe and you can capture anything from a cozy shaded wood to frolicking amongst the flowers. The whole area is essentially a mini Butchart gardens and I just adore it!

Kendall Yards Playground

Another photo-worthy spot here in Spokane is Kendall Yards. This newer neighborhood is absolutely gorgeous, clean, and ideal for pictures. I’ve been shooting here for years as well since there are plenty of picturesque spots along the water. I also just love this big playground and field, it’s perfect for photoshoots and the little bridge is just too good. I recommend exploring the area when you shoot here because there are plenty of hidden gems and shops that work well for Instagram.

Pro Tip: bring the sunglasses! This area tends to get pretty bright since it’s such an open space. I just adore it and have several photos of my self shielding my eyes throughout the year. The thing I like about Kendall Yards is that its a great photo spot year round and not just in the summertime!

Garland District’s Shops

Finally if you are looking for something unique here in Spokane you have to visit Garland! This neighborhood is just darling and has a lot of eclectic shops and restaurants. One neat spot is the famed Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle which is a restaurant in the shape of a milk bottle! Not only is this place great for burgers and shakes but the overall vibe of the building is super unique and cute. Another quirky option is the thrift stores, they are so unique and the perfect background for funky outfits. See, I’ve been exploring this neighborhood for years now and love wearing some bolder outfits when walking around here. This is also the perfect area for thrift shoppers and anyone trying to capture the true essence of Spokane.
