Budget Friendly Christmas Decor for Small Spaces

How I’m Decorating for Christmas in an Apartment

I can’t believe Christmas is nearly here! I feel like on social media we are trained to always be shopping for the latest and greatest decor items when we only need a few products to liven up a space. This year I really only purchased 3 new little pieces to revamp my space. I got some classic items last winter that will last me for years to come! Plus overall I consider myself a minimalist who would rather spend her money on clothing and food! If you do need some ideas for Christmas decorating or last minute gifts to grab loved ones, give these a try…

Pom Pom Wall Garland

Our first piece of decor is this fun pom pom garland! We hang seasonal garlands over our couch since we have failed to put up our pictures. Nonetheless I love how simplistic and minimal these pom’s are, they add just enough texture to the otherwise plain wall. These garlands would also be ideal for holiday parties since they’re lightweight and not too bold. I will say they also have other color combinations if you are bolder than I am but overall I like rather minimalistic decor and have kept to a pink, red and white theme throughout my space.

Best Mini Christmas Tree

One of the proudest Christmas items I have at my place is this cute little tree! I technically got mine at Hobby Lobby last year but this Amazon version is a great alternative. It fits in perfectly next to my work mirror and really elevates the space. I also love how I added the pink ornaments, they go perfectly with my pink arm chair. On top of the tree we opted for the snowflake but I found a similar star online. My only pro tip with decorating the tree is getting ornament hooks, who knew they didn’t come with ornaments!

Christmas Signage for the TV Stand

If you’re anything like me you are the worst about hanging decor on the walls so you are left placing items on tables and shelves. This was certainly the case in my space so I placed my sign and tree next to the TV. Again the theme was white, pink and red so the more minimal the better in my opinion. I love making my space simplistic with a nod to the holidays. Plus this sign is a bit kitschy without being overwhelming to the room!

Gingerbread Nutcracker Decor

I just got this cutie for an early Christmas present and I am obsessed! I have alway been a nutcracker girl, since childhood I have collected them. I don’t know what it is about nutcrackers that I find so charming but the artistry that goes into each one makes me so happy. In fact, on my travels earlier this year I found myself at the Nutcracker Museum in Leavenworth WA. If you ever find yourself in the Bavarian town, I highly recommend stopping in. You learn all about the history of nutcrackers and see some gorgeous pieces of art.

Target Feathery Friend Birds for the Holidays

My final piece of decor is probably my favorite product in this whole post, the Target birds! I don’t know what it is about them but I think they are the cutest thing ever. This holiday season they totally expanded the range of birds they offer. I got the Santa bird last year and picked up the white ones this year. Each one has a name and on TikTok there are now videos highlighting the birds and other Target products. I recommend buying one for each season and keeping them out on your island to make meal times a bit brighter.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

I hope my decor recommendations help you in decorating your space! Or if you’re nosy like me it was a fun peek into my home. As someone who works from home and spends a lot of time in my space it’s important for me to feel good with my surroundings. That means cute decor that turns this apartment into a home!
